The present moment. What a fun thing. It’s the only thing we have. It’s the present, past, and future all at once. When you put it like that, it does seem unsettling… but it’s so natural to us that we’re immune to the fear of the idea. It’s like the sky. Think about it. We don’t focus on the fact that the sky is infinity and mystery and that it is deadly. We kinda just look up and ignore it. Same, unfortunately, or inevitably rather, has to do with the present moment... the present moment is who we are. That’s it. Whatever you feel, whatever you think, whatever you’re about to do. That’s you. That’s it. There’s nothing more to it. And the best thing you can do with that information, is to remind yourself of it, so that you make sure to make most present moments count. Bc the proportion of good moments to bad moments will ultimately determine if your life was wort the living. So, we should try to be happier and in times of hardship, focus on the rational side of things rather than the emotional one. That is true with absolutely every kind of struggle. Yet, ironically, it’s important to not focus exclusively on the present moment. Because even though not so common-sensical of an idea, but the present moment will always determine the next present moment. It’s the domino effect. And just bc you can do something to make right now amazing, you need to consider whether that will make the other present moments win in that “proportion”. The proportion of good to the bad. That’s all there is really. Seize the day, or don’t. Whatever you feel like will make you happy right now. In this moment. For the sake of the other ones to come.
Here are some past “present moments” I ❤️.
